LOS ANGELES—JUNE 20, 2017—Antonio Pelayo, artist extraordinaire and multicultural event producer, along with legendary tattoo artist Freddy Negrete present the 3rd Annual TATUAJE Tattoo Festival, Concert & Art Exhibition on Saturday, July 29th 2017, 7PM to 1:00AM at Plaza de la Raza, 3540 North Mission Road, Los Angeles, CA 90031.
Concert headliner is none other than the legendary East L.A. band, Los Lobos, who will perform their classic fan favorites as well as some of their new songs from their upcoming CD Tin Can Trust, release date August 3, 2017. This is the first collection of new original material in four years, where the venerable quintet reconnected directly with their roots by returning to East L.A. and recording at Manny’s Studio—“In a rundown neighborhood,” says Louie Perez, Los Lobos songwriter/multi-instrumentalist, “that took us out of our comfort zone and allowed us to do what we hadn’t done in quite some time: to play together in the same room, as one.”
Actor and community activist, Danny Trejo (Machete) co-hosts the event with Bernadette Macias, TV Host and judge on CMT’s hit reality competition series Tattoo Titans. Actor-Comedian-Writer Richard Montoya is set to emcee and guide fest-goers through the night.
TATUAJE will feature over 100 top tattoo artists, live painting, live tattoo competition, art exhibit curated by Freddy Negrete, screening of cult classic film Boulevard Nights and fashion show by Wardrobe Divas as well as music by DJ Toks and DJ Chris Rox.
TATUAJE celebrates the distinct tattoo culture of Los Angeles while raising funds to benefit Plaza de La Raza, a nonprofit organization, with a multidisciplinary community arts venue dedicated to serving the Eastside neighborhoods of Los Angeles. “It has one of the best arts education programs for children,” said Pelayo. “My main purpose for producing events like this is so that I can raise funds for organizations that teach art to kids,” Pelayo affirms. “Drawing kept me out of trouble while I was growing up, so now I just want to give the generations that follow the same opportunities that art gave me.”
Pelayo has become a distinguished industry innovation leader creating a new type of cultural experience specializing in art exhibits, live entertainment, concerts, community outreach, and fundraising.
TATUAJE 2017 is a tribute to the unique tattoo culture of Los Angeles, and its multiheritage melting pot. TATUAJE is a 21 and over event, no exceptions. All attendees must show valid photo ID to gain admission. |
